Other features of the unidentified objects were also striking. Often they, perfectly visible even without optics, were completely invisible to radars. The impression was that the protective field that the UFO created around itself not only did not reflect, but absorbed the radar beams. Naval Intelligence UFOs are worried and alarmed. They very much resemble the striking or reconnaissance targets of a potential enemy. Often they come close to our warships. It got to the point that submarine commanders were forced to maneuver and evade unidentified submarine targets. One of the submarines of the Pacific Fleet fell into a kind of pincers, was forced to surface, and immediately six objects flew out of the water into the air, which surrounded the submarine and went beyond the horizon. It turns out that they have completely mastered water as a living environment, and they feel as confident in the hydrosphere as in the atmosphere, stratosphere and in space.

The possibilities of unidentified flying objects cause bewilderment among observers. One of the characteristic messages came from the area of the Kuril Islands. On September 10, 1972, the crew of the Varyag cruiser watched with amazement an unidentified object that entered the water at high speed without a single splash. Multimeter ice is not an obstacle for strange objects either. Thus, during the Deep Freeze naval maneuvers in the North Atlantic, a huge silver ball, breaking through a three-meter layer of ice, flew out next to a Canadian icebreaker. One of the witnesses of the incident was the famous polar explorer Robert Villela. The ball was at least 11 meters in diameter, the ice blocks flew up to the height of a 7-storey building. The water in the hole was literally boiling.

They tried to explain such observations by missile launches from submarines, but professionals reject such assumptions.

Captain 1st Rank A. Korzhev believes that no commander will risk firing missiles so that they hit the ice. Any missile fired from a depth through the ice is necessarily deformed, so the commander floats up, finds a wormwood or thin ice, breaks this ice with the wheelhouse or hull and launches the missiles at the intended point.

Both the Americans and we carried out launches from the Arctic Ocean, but not a single launch was made from under the ice, but only from a surface launch - from the ice hole. This is evidenced by former commander nuclear submarine captain 1st rank I. Kostev.

In addition, UFO flights were noted from under the ice in inland waters, where, in principle, there can be no submarines, for example, on Lake Baikal, in the inland lakes of Sweden, in water bodies in northern Russia. In one of the lakes on the Kola Peninsula, a hole was discovered with a diameter of 8 meters, which had melted edges and a round shape. It is difficult to say whether the object was landing on the ice, or coming out from under the ice.

It was required to understand all this: both for the military - in practice, and for science, which UFOs challenged with their behavior, violation of scientific laws known to us. Required basic research... These studies were started.

Navy investigates UFOs

The Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Navy received information that the Americans are paying very much attention to the facts of the discovery of unidentified flying objects. Since 1951, the Pentagon issued an instruction that regulated the behavior of the military in the event of a UFO sighting. She ordered to report through certain communication channels about the appearance of unknown submarines, ships, planes and UFOs. In March 1954, the reporting scheme was improved, underwater UFOs in it were highlighted in a special column: "... Data on all unknown objects, including underwater UFOs, should be transmitted as messages of primary importance ..."

The Navy Intelligence Agency also received UFO reports, but they were scattered and random, which made it impossible to form a big picture or perform an analysis. It was decided to organize a systematic collection of information about the appearance of UFOs over water areas and in the depths of the sea. In 1976, by order of the General Staff of the Navy, this was undertaken by the Oceanographic Commission of the USSR Academy of Sciences, which supported the initiative of the author of this book to head the research work (R&D) "Hydrospheric Aspect of the UFO Problem". A temporary research team was created, without funding, and, as they say, on the job, that is, on a scientific and voluntary basis, a year later, in the summer of 1977, the 1st stage of this work was completed. The Naval Intelligence Directorate received an R&D report containing an overview and analysis of the situation, as well as a practical document - "Instructions for observing UFOs from ships and vessels."

The instruction appeared, but the navy was in no hurry to implement it. It turned out that for this you need to have a certain courage, because the plot itself, when the fleet implements instructions for observing flying saucers, did not fit in with the political concept, with political view to this problem. Despite the huge number of reports and documentary evidence of the intelligent behavior of unidentified flying objects, official science continued to stubbornly deny this phenomenon, could not explain it, the ideological basis interfered. All attempts to explain this phenomenon were not taken seriously, and scientists who tried to do this were persecuted, accused of amateurism and profanation of science.

The situation was no better in the navy. But nevertheless, despite the oppressive situation, the Instructions for collecting information about unidentified flying and underwater objects were successfully implemented. True, at first only in the Northern Fleet. And then only thanks to the decisiveness and audacity of the then commander of the fleet, Admiral V.N. Chernavin and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Federation Council, my friend, Rear Admiral Mars Iskanderov. This even led to conflicts between them and the political bodies, which saw in ufology and falling into mysticism, and for some reason bourgeois ideology. They were interested in completely different, non-vital aspects. Arriving at the Northern Fleet, the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral of the Fleet Gorshkov and the head of the Main Political Directorate of the Navy, Admiral Grishanov over lunch in a conversation with V.N. The Chernavins started talking about anomalous phenomena, including UFOs. And Grishanov, with the Bolshevik directness and principledness, declared that all this was nonsense, they were inventing it there, and so on. Chernavin objected: if we proceed from our Marxist-Leninist philosophy, then the world is boundless, endless, without beginning and without end, and why not admit that somewhere there is the same planet as, say, our Earth, with another, say , the level of development - less or more. Then Grishanov asks: "Do you really believe in this?" Chernavin: "I believe in our Marxist-Leninist philosophy." Grishanov turns to Gorshkov. "Sergei Georgievich, well, then we have nothing to do here at all, if the commander of the fleet professes such a worldview." Fighting for the combat effectiveness of the fleet, regardless of the opinion of politicians, V.N. Chernavin walked on a razor's edge. Nevertheless, the instruction, signed by M. Iskanderov, was sent to the ships and military units of the Northern Fleet.

Introducing the instruction developed by me, V.N. Chernavin believed he was doing the right thing. His directive required every UFO sighting to be immediately reported to the headquarters of the fleet, especially since there are similar instructions in American and other foreign fleets. Organized UFO sightings in our country have begun.

Everything incomprehensible causes in us a burning interest and at the same time anxiety. After all, the unknown can be fraught with a threat. It is not just individuals who are worried, but governments as well. Especially if the phenomenon is global - such as unidentified flying objects.

... Northern Fleet, Motovsky Bay, August 26, 1975. Project 671 nuclear submarine enters a combat mission .. After a while, the signalman reports to the commander: "45 degrees on the starboard side - the plane." However, after a minute it became clear: the sailors had not yet met with anything like that. Because the object did not move: it just hovered in the air.

Further, the situation is described by Aleksey Korzhev, the commander of the nuclear submarine: “The object was of an unusual shape, such as an inverted parachute. It was all glowing and was clearly visible against the background of the dark sky. The glow was rings. The brightest glow came from the lower ring - an intense white color. Then a moon-colored ring could be seen, then - reddish, pink, dark and, finally, a triangular fire was clearly visible above the dome. Its color could be called phosphoric. Suddenly this UFO began to move in our direction. After a while, a beam similar to a searchlight stretched out from the bottom of it. "

After 10 minutes, a second beam appeared in the direction of the ship, which was sailing on the starboard side. These rays remained for some time, but then they went out. The UFO itself began to approach the submarine and hovered directly over it. The crew gathered on the upper deck no longer saw the glowing stripes, but only the dark lower part. Having lingered in this position for about a minute, the UFO began to move away in the direction from which it appeared. The stripes became clearly visible again, and the object itself disappeared into the clouds. According to observers, the size of its diameter was from eight to fifteen meters.

What was it? Most likely, the UFO scanned the ships, trying to assess the threat they pose. Interestingly, the UFO was not lurking at all, and did not seem to be bothered by human attention. Only after learning everything they wanted, the unknown pilots decided to leave the scene. This is especially surprising given the fact that UFOs usually try to leave the field of view of observers as quickly as possible.

This was not the first and not the last meeting of our sailors and submariners with mysterious objects. So, in 1964, during a night ascent in the Atlantic, the Soviet nuclear submarine I discovered in the sky next to me a large - about 250 meters long - cigar-shaped object. He moved absolutely silently. What's this? A US Coast Guard patrol airship? The commander ordered to prepare for an urgent dive. And then three bright beams hit from the bottom of the object. It became clear that this was not an airship. There were no gondolas, no rudders of any kind. Then something unexpected happened. Without turning off its searchlights, the object began to slowly descend and disappeared under the water. At this moment, the boat's sonars recorded a short hissing sound.

After several decades, after retiring, Commander-in-Chief of the USSR Navy Vladimir Chernavin commented on the situation as follows: “Unidentified flying objects appear in the areas where the forces of both our fleet and the forces of the fleet of foreign states are concentrated. The Americans have similar directives, and they have such records, and such observations are analyzed, and these observations are kept secret. I myself, having read these reports, in three hours from an ordinary person turned into a ufologist. "

It is worth noting that descriptions of UFOs encountered at sea are sometimes repeated. Compare with the last case the entry from the logbook of the Argentine ship "Naviero".

“July 20, 1967 During dinner, the officer on duty, Jorge Montoya, in great excitement went down to the wardroom and reported the appearance of an unknown object 15 meters to starboard. Immediately ascending to the deck, the commander saw a cigar-shaped object emitting a blue-white glow. The object was approximately 30 meters long and its surface was absolutely smooth. There are no windows, towers, handrails, superstructures or any protruding parts on the surface of the object. "

For about a quarter of an hour, the "cigar" was on a parallel course with the ship, causing amazement to the sailors. Then she suddenly plunged into the water, still exuding radiance, passed under the Naviero's hull and swiftly departed.

Isn't it true that these two cases are incredibly similar? The capabilities of UFOs in the sea are striking: they have tremendous speed and maneuverability, they can pierce thick layers of ice (when taking off in Antarctica), and do not leave behind streaks of foaming and boiling water. The principle of functioning is still incomprehensible to us. But maybe there is very little left? When powerful magnetic fields were first used on the American destroyer Eldridge in 1943, it simply disappeared from radar. And then many were inclined to believe in a miracle, they say, the ship moved to a parallel world.

True, encounters with UFOs at sea do not always end peacefully. The naval forces have almost always tried to chase UFOs at sea and use weapons. And their attempts have never been crowned with success. Sometimes UFOs tried to get away from contact, and sometimes they just played with the ships of earthlings, apparently perfectly realizing their superiority.

We all remember the famous UFO crash in Roswell in 1947, the mystery of which has not yet been solved. Here we will talk about an equally mysterious event - a UFO crash in the Baltic Sea, and the object is still there, at the bottom, but about everything in order.

On June 19, 2011, a group of Swedish treasure hunters led by Peter Lindberg searched for sunken ships at the bottom of the Baltic Sea in the Gulf of Bothnia between Sweden and Finland (Fig. 1). While scanning the seabed with sonar, she discovered a mysterious disc-shaped object at a depth of 92 m. Its diameter was 18 m, and a height of about 3-4 m (Fig. 2).

As soon as this became known to the public, many inquisitive minds came to the conclusion that this object is a crashed UFO, in shape resembling the well-known Millennium Falcon starship from the movie Star Wars (Fig. 3). During an emergency landing, the object left a stopping distance behind it - a furrow with a length of 300 m, which is clearly visible in the image from the sonar. (see fig. 4).

And so this mysterious object is seen by the German artist Vaghauk http://vaghauk.deviantart.com/ (Fig. 5).

Peter Lindbergh himself, who had been an ardent skeptic all his life, was very surprised by his find, but nevertheless he denied the version of its extraterrestrial origin.
Scientists, bloggers, ufologists and other brain-breakers put forward completely different hypotheses about the origin of the object, but in general four can be distinguished: a natural formation that arose as a result of volcanic activity, a ship or submarine during the Cold War, a certain structure built by our distant ancestors, the so-called "New Stonehenge", well, and the most interesting - the crashed UFO.
Vadim Chernobrov, the well-known researcher of anomalous phenomena, the head of the Cosmopoisk ONIO, believes that “At one time several round-shaped ships sailed in the Baltic, projects to create disc-shaped underwater antennas were carried out ... the antenna is too large. "
He also denies the version of natural origin, since “for long years echolocation studies, neither I nor other researchers have ever encountered objects of such a regular round shape. " In addition, as Peter Lindberg himself noted, there have never been volcanoes in the Baltic Sea, which excludes the volcanic origin of the object.
As for the version of the "New Stonehenge", then, according to Vadim Chernobrov, "the great depth at which this" thing "is now located indicates that this land area should have sank under water millions of years ago, when there is simply no one else for The earth had to create any kind of artificial structures. "
He considers the most probable version of a sunken UFO, the indirect proof of which can be considered a mysterious story that took place 25 years ago the Cold War. The Swedes were faced with incomprehensible vehicles that "take off from under the water, dive under the water, rush there at great speed ...". Of course, they blamed the Russians for creating and testing such objects. Subsequently, it became clear that no state in the world is capable of creating such apparatuses. The Swedish military has repeatedly tried to sink "enemy" submarines with depth charges. Vadim Chernobov suggests that the military managed to shoot down one object, and the underwater UFO damaged by the explosion of depth charges, having plowed a 300-meter furrow, remained lying at a depth.
Versions are versions, but it's better to see them once. In early June 2012, the Swedish research group Ocean X made a second expedition to the mysterious object. Initially, many of its members were skeptical, suggesting that this is an ordinary stone. However, the results of the expedition gave more questions than answers. Professional divers, who have twenty years of experience in exploring the depths of the seas and oceans, first encountered the inexplicable: when approaching the object, satellite phones and some cameras stop working, and when the divers returned, the devices worked normally again.
Despite all the difficulties, in particular the terrible weather conditions and the murky waters of the Baltic Sea, where visibility was only a few feet, experienced divers still managed to video the object and collect samples.
The surface of the object visually resembled concrete as on the foundation of underwater structures. Divers have seen this more than once. The radiation radiation from the samples from the object was 20 times higher than the norm, but still not dangerous.
In shape, it resembles a large mushroom with rounded sides and edges, which rises three to four meters above the seabed (Fig. 6). Above there is an egg-shaped hole and strange formations - stone rings, similar to the hearths of people of the Stone Age, covered with "soot" (Fig. 7).

Photo 6.

Photo 7.

The object itself is at the top of a stone column of a smaller diameter, thus the whole "structure" resembles a mushroom or a champagne cork. Whether the stone, the column under it and the stone ring are monoliths or are they genetically different remains to be seen in the future.
While floating above the surface of the object, the RCUs discovered an incomprehensible circular hole, approximately 10 inches in diameter, from which water was streaming outward (Figure 8).

Photo 8.

To the question "what is it?" and "where did he come from?" the members of the expedition could not give an unambiguous answer. Peter Lindberg stated in an interview that he and his team have never seen such a huge object with such straight lines, shapes and smooth surfaces. In any case, it looks like a man-made one.
In the next expedition, it is planned to collect data on which a 3-D model of the object will be made, but for now, according to detailed descriptions and sketches by Peter Lindbergh, the artist Waghauk depicted a second version of the intended shape of the object (Fig. 9).

Photo 9.

Whatever the end result of the mysterious object at the bottom - an echo of an ancient catastrophe, a monument to the history of ancient people or a bizarre game of nature, we will find out the answer soon enough, but in the meantime, preparations are underway for the third expedition, and the data obtained requires processing and interpretation. Those who are especially curious can check out oceanexplorer.se and practice their English.

In the waters of the Black Sea, very strange, inexplicable events periodically occur. Little is known about them to the general public. Moreover, reliable sources report that the Ukrainian Navy's hydrometeorological center has been monitoring similar phenomena in the Black Sea since 1993. And the old archives of the Navy Soviet Union testify that something similar has been recorded here since the middle of the last century! What are these events? Who or what is the protagonist?

In particular, these phenomena include:
- floating and / or glowing balls hanging over the water;
- moving light spots, circles and luminous rotating "wheels" on the water surface;
- "searchlights" and "pillars of light" beating from the depths and moving in the water;
- objects of unknown origin flying out from under the water and submerging into the water;
- Unknown underwater objects (NPOs) moving at speeds significantly exceeding the speed of the most modern submarines;
- underwater objects, which in a short time plunge to depths inaccessible to submarines and emerge from there to the surface;
- NPOs mechanically acting on equipment submerged in depth and sea vessels;
- massive underwater objects of unknown origin, remotely affecting the functioning of equipment and weapons;
- acoustic and radio emissions of unknown origin, emanating from the depths of the sea;
- unidentified flying objects (UFOs) appearing in the areas of concentration of naval forces and means ...

Vitaly Pravdivtsev and Yevgeny Litvinov in their article "On the history of the study of anomalous phenomena by intelligence of the USSR Navy" (2008) provide a number of archival information about facts of this kind that took place under water, on water and above water in the oceans and seas. Here are the facts about the Black Sea in chronological presentation:

1950 The crew of the cruiser observed an egg-shaped object that rose from the surface of the sea. It took off noiselessly, leaving no waves or ripples on the water.

1966 During a large-scale exercise in the Black Sea, a group of UFOs appeared at a very high altitude in the area of the congestion of ships and submarines. Objects moved erratically in the air. When the objects descended, their spherical and cigar-shaped shapes became visible. The teaching had to be interrupted. The order was given to destroy the UFO. But the shelling did not produce any results.

May 1979. A large luminous disc-shaped object flew out of the water in front of one of the ships a few dozen meters away. The water rose up behind him in a dome, and then fell down. Before it disappeared into the sky, a good photo of the object was taken.

Departure of a disc-shaped UFO from the water in front of the ship. Black Sea, May 1979

August 12, 1979 Adler area. This is evidenced by the engineer Y. Podvyazny, who, together with two satellites from 2 am for two and a half hours, observed the strange maneuvers of the luminous object. He moved in jerks over the water from the sea towards Adler. “After another sharp throw, he found himself at a distance of a kilometer from us, to the west of Khosta. We managed to take nine pictures and see him through optics.

The object was 50-100 meters in diameter and had four rows of illuminated windows. He moved above the water at a height of 5-20 meters, slowly rising at an angle of about 3 degrees to the horizon. A nearby patrol ship illuminated the UFO with its searchlight. And immediately a beam of light left the object and turned into a ball, which flared up and went out. And at the same time the searchlight and all the lights on the patrol ship went out. The observation continued until 04.30 in the morning. "

September 1982 Kerch. KGB General G. Aleksandrovich told the famous test pilot of the Air Force Colonel Marina Popovich about this case. N. A group of KGB officers was fishing from a boat in the Kerch region. Suddenly one of the five "fishermen" noticed in the constellation Big Dipper an extra asterisk, which began to rapidly increase in size. It soon became apparent that it was spinning. When the object hovered above the water near the boat, it was possible to estimate its diameter - about 400 meters. Three beams appeared from the UFO, which "with a rotational-corkscrew movement illuminated everything around and even touched the edge of the people on the boat. They either removed or re-advanced." The fishermen hurried to the island, where two people remained to prepare a fire and lodging for the night. The object accompanied them for some time, but when approaching the island began to decrease in size, rotating counterclockwise. In Moscow, eyewitnesses reported the incident to General G. Alexandrovich N., and he reported to Yu.V. himself. Andropov. “Fortunately, there was no negative impact on people. But the duration of the observation and the enormous size of the UFO is an amazing fact,” concluded General G. Alexandrovich N.

End of 1982 Crimea. During naval exercises, an unknown target was discovered in the skies over the naval base in Balaklava, which did not respond to a friend or foe's request. It flew at the height of a helicopter, had a sharp nose, "like a Tu-144," and sparks flew out of the tail section. As the interceptor fighters approached, the UFO went under water. Warships were involved in his search, but to no avail.

1990. Evidence of the director of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR E. Shnyukov - head of the expedition across the Black Sea on the research vessel "Mikhail Lomonosov". "At a depth of 1400 - 1800 meters, a mysterious body was found - an elliptical NGO measuring 3x2 kilometers. Its thickness was determined on the echograms - up to 270 meters. Its materiality and density were confirmed by devices warning barometers against impacts on solid ground - they invariably worked in contact with the NGO. Analysis of water samples taken near the NPO showed no hydrochemical anomalies. "

1990 year. Researchers in the depths of the sea in Sevastopol told the expert of the Association "Ecology of the Unknown" Kuzovkin A.S. about his observation during the descent in a deep-sea bathyscaphe. It was an unknown wheel-shaped object about ten stories in diameter, standing upright in the water column. From the bathyscaphe it was seen how this "wheel" took a horizontal position and began to rotate, and then began to move away.

August 8, 1991 Black Sea. Residents of Sevastopol and the crews of the naval ships standing in the roadstead observed a diamond-shaped UFO with two central lights, then a triangular pyramid appeared, from each face of which a "searchlight" was visible. Its height was 12 times less than the width of the base ...

A lot of other evidence of this nature can be found in the book of the veteran of Russian ufology VG Azhazhi "Underwater UFOs" (Moscow, "Veche", 2008). It is based on a report on the research topic "Hydrospheric Aspect of the UFO Problem", made by the author back in 1978 by order of the Intelligence Directorate of the Main Staff of the USSR Navy (revised and supplemented). The book analyzes more than 2000 cases of UFO sightings in the seas and oceans above water, on water, under water, on the coast, their impact on submarines, ships, aircraft, equipment and people ... There are as many as 118 cases of Black Sea UFOs in the book! This is how many episodes off the Crimean coast over the past 60 years have been counted in the book by Sergei Sharygin, a Crimean ufologist. The number of observations of moving alien objects (DOP is a new term, the equivalent of UFOs proposed by V.G. Azhazha in the book) in the Black Sea and off the coast of Crimea over the past 60 years is given by him in the table:

The last episode of the "Black Sea UFO", which received publicity in the media, dates back to the fall of 2006. Then from the board of a small ship of the Ukrainian Navy "Balta" ... an underwater flying "saucer" was seen. It happened during an expedition to search for a ship that sank during the Second World War. Here is what Sergey Voronov, Director of the Department of Underwater Heritage of Ukraine, said:

- We explored the water area near the Ayudag cape - one of the probable crash sites of the "Armenia". It was a joint expedition with the Russians. They provided equipment capable of scanning the bottom at great depths. She also "sees" objects in the water column. And on one of my watches, a Russian engineer exclaimed: "We seem to have spotted a Ukrainian submarine!" I look at the screen, and there really is some kind of object and a contrail coming from it, indicating that the mysterious submarine is moving (visually, it resembles a trail in the sky from an airplane). I did not tell the Russian specialist that the only Ukrainian submarine, Zaporozhye, has not been sailing for a long time. He only stated that this submarine has an unusual shape, it looks very much like a flying saucer. Actually, I don’t believe in UFOs and such miracles, so I was seized by a feeling of unreality of what was happening. I'm sure nothing like this exists. He assumed it was a Russian submarine. Returning to Sevastopol, he told the familiar officers of the Russian Black Sea Fleet about the strange submarine. They unanimously declared: their submarines had not gone to sea for several months ...

So what happens in the waters of the Black Sea? Academician Yevgeny Shnyukov, one of the leading researchers of the bottom and bowels of the Black Sea, argues:

Together with Rear Admiral Mitin, we published an article devoted to the mysterious phenomena occurring in the Black Sea, which can be mistaken for unidentified underwater objects. In fact, this is the result of the functioning of gas torches of mud volcanoes at the bottom. They emit a mass of gases, dirt, which leads to the appearance of visual effects on the screens of echo sounders. The effects were large - up to a kilometer long and 300 meters high - and were dome-shaped.

Meanwhile, not all specialists, let alone direct eyewitnesses, agree with this statement, although they do not reject the proposed hypothesis from the doorway. The fact is that not all cases can be clearly explained within the framework of such a hypothesis, especially since they have been recorded in the waters of many seas and oceans since ancient times, and all attempts to scientifically analyze such facts have always ended in almost nothing ...

Yaroslav Sochka, March 2011

Naval sailors tried to negotiate with aliens

Whether aliens visit Earth or not, science has yet to figure it out. Although there are hundreds of new UFO reports every day. Let 99 percent of them be explained by natural or man-made factors. But one percent remains unsolved.

Let's say aliens do exist. Where, if not under water, is it more convenient for them to hide their base? After all, land occupies only a third of the surface of our planet. The rest is the ocean, where a person appears only periodically. This is an almost unexplored part of the globe. We know much better what is happening on the moon than in the depths of the sea. And from there, it turns out, regularly receives information about some mysterious phenomena. The naval officers report - they are technically competent and mentally balanced people. After all, in the Navy, they undergo medical examinations every year.

The messages of the sailors can be divided into two parts - the stories of the submariners and the testimonies from the surface ships.

Who is making noise there

There are no portholes on the submarines. Radio communication is also difficult under water, but sound travels much better than in the air. Therefore, divers are talking more and more about unusual acoustic signals.

In the mid-70s of the last century, a serious commotion began in the General Staff of the USSR Navy, recalls the submariner, captain of the 1st rank (retired), a former senior officer of the General Staff of the Russian Navy Vadim KULINCHENKO. - Captains of nuclear-powered missile submarine cruisers returning from combat duty from Atlantic Ocean as if by agreement, they began to file reports about strange sources of noise, the nature of which the acoustics did not understand.

The situation for the crews is very unpleasant. Imagine: a boat breaks into the Atlantic through NATO's anti-submarine lines. You have to go at a depth of 200 meters. And this puts pressure on the psyche. Especially young sailors, warrant officers. And then the command post receives a message from the acoustician on duty: "Unidentified noises detected!" A combat alert is immediately announced. Because who knows what kind of noise: maybe there is some kind of supernova submarine or a ship of a "potential enemy" nearby. While the noise is being received, everyone is at their combat posts. Come off - lights out.

This situation could be repeated several times a day ...

What were the sounds like?

Different - both in duration and in tone. But most were like the drawn-out croak of a frog.

The last commander-in-chief of the USSR Navy, President of the Russian Union of Submariners, Admiral Vladimir CHERNAVIN, who was chief of staff in 1974-1977, and commander of the Northern Fleet in 1977-1981, tells about the events of that time as follows:

During the years of service, captain 1st rank, veteran submariner Vadim Kulinchenko repeatedly encountered "Quakers".

There were more and more such reports. It was no longer possible to simply brush them off. It was decided to study this phenomenon with scientific point vision. And in October 1977, an instruction was issued in the fleet instructing submarine commanders to report all incomprehensible phenomena without fail. Moreover, I know for sure that the Americans have similar directives and instructions.

The operational headquarters of all fleets were ordered to collect information about acoustic phenomena, marking the areas of their appearance on the maps, - Vadim Kulinchenko continues. “The officers charged with collecting this information are called Quakers. We had such a “Quaker” in the Northern Fleet, where I served at that time. And I saw his secret map - the entire North Atlantic, starting from Iceland, seemed to have contracted measles. By the way, later the term "Quaker" took root, and the very source of these incomprehensible phenomena was called it.

These are not Americans

- And what were the conclusions?

None. At first, it was suspected that this was some kind of American know-how. However, there was no evidence. Not long ago, a book of memoirs of two high-ranking American submariners "Naval reconnaissance against the USSR" was published in Russia with interesting facts about how they "crashed" into our submarine communication cables, traced the routes of ships, decoded radio intercepts, but there is not a word about technology that could be mistaken for the activities of "Quakers" we know ... It seems that the Americans are still nothing to do with it. There were several meetings on this matter, but they all ended in vain.

And now - silence

- Have you tried fishing? I have read statements that in Soviet times submarines several times "caught" "Quakers".

I am familiar with similar stories. Their authors simply confuse two completely different things. Both our fleet and the American one are actively using underwater sonar beacons. Relatively speaking, this is a kind of buoy lying on the bottom and giving certain acoustic signals, distinguishable within a radius of 20-30 kilometers. As an additional tip for underwater navigation. And finding and destroying the sonar beacon of a potential enemy is a great thing! For this, even medals are given in the navy. Here are several similar cases, when our boats discovered other people's beacons, for some reason they are confused with the capture of "Quakers". Although the latter could not be caught even once.

It is very difficult to locate someone else's buoy, because it is audible only in a limited area. But if the acoustician "caught" him, then everything is simple, since the lighthouse stands motionless and it is easy to destroy it. The peculiarity of the "Quaker" sound is that it is impossible to determine its source. The sound comes from different directions, and the tonality is constantly changing. The feeling was that something wanted to summon the submarine to a conversation. But it was never possible to understand what kind of “something” it was, no large objects were found nearby.

However, there were also such "Quakers" who seemed to avoid meeting with us. An experienced acoustician can determine the speed of an enemy submarine from the noise of the propellers. And sometimes they spotted croaking right next to the boat, but then the impression was created that the sound source was escaping from us at a speed of two or three times the speed of any submarine vessel.

And if you try to make contact with them - "croak" something in response?

In the early 1980s, there were also such studies. Once in the range of another "Quaker", the boat, "answering", sent acoustic messages in different directions - different sounds. Quakers certainly reacted to this - they always changed the tone of their "performance". But no one succeeded in figuring out whether this reaction was meaningful.

But still, if you tried to make contact with the "Quakers", what did you think of them? Who or what are they - UFOs, sounds made by fish, other animals, ships, underwater volcanoes ...

There is still no answer. The ocean can be compared to a spring forest - a sensitive ear will make out hundreds, if not thousands of different sounds. Most of of them is described, and their nature is understood. In any training center of the Navy, a novice acoustist is taught to understand this cacophony. And the catalog of sounds continues to grow. At one time, it was believed that "croaking" was the business of female killer whales. They make very similar sounds during intercourse. However, killer whales are not extinct and continue to copulate quietly today. And the mysterious "Quakers" have disappeared somewhere. They appeared in the early 70s, the peak of messages was in 1975 - 1980, and then within five years they disappeared altogether. And as far as I know, since the 90s, our submariners have never listened to the mysterious "Quaker", whoever he may be.

QUESTION - RIB

Is it possible to create a device that would fly in the air and swim under water?

Nobody saw the Quakers, but many heard. It is a fact. But what is their nature? Is it secret Earth technologies, alien ships, or just sounds of natural origin? In favor latest version says that the underwater world of the Earth is very poorly studied, and mysterious sounds could be made by some unknown animal. In favor of the first two - information that the "Quakers" were active in the ocean for only 15 - 20 years. Maybe the tests of secret technology were really going on, maybe the aliens were naughty. In ufology, there is evidence of how someone saw a UFO soaring into the sky right from under the water. And such devices do exist.

Before the Second World War in the USSR, a project was being developed for a flying submarine - LPL, - says the senior designer of the Nikolaev Shipyard - Plant named after 61 Communards "(Ukraine) Nikolay Shevchuk. - As conceived by the developers, the apparatus with a crew of three was supposed to circle in the sky, looking out for enemy ships. Having found such and calculated its course, the LPL was not substituted for the ship's anti-aircraft guns, but at a great distance from the ship sank under the water, approached and shot the victim with torpedoes. It was convenient to use such a device for sabotage operations.

In 1936, the project was approved by the country's Military Research Committee. But in 1938, the development of the LPL was stopped for unexplained reasons. And nobody else heard about this project.

It is quite possible that at that time it was not possible to build such an apparatus, but in the 60s and 70s either the Soviet military or shipbuilders who were fulfilling NATO orders could return to the project as a promising one.

LPL characteristics:

Crew - 3 people

Speed - 200 km / h.

Range - 800 km

Flight ceiling - 2500 m

Immersion depth - 45 m

Underwater autonomy - 48 hours

Armament: two 18-inch torpedoes, two coaxial machine guns.

BY THE WAY

Captain Nemo's cause lives on and wins

Every year 2 - 3 accidents with submarines occur in the ocean.

The submarine fleet appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century. And already the first World War marked the beginning of a series of unexplained but documented stories.

On July 10, 1918, submarines - the American L-2 and the German U-56 - prepared to attack each other. The American acoustician announced that the noises of another boat were heard in the distance, and at the same moment the "German" exploded as if by itself. And after 20 minutes the noise of the propellers of the second unidentified boat began to disappear and, according to the same acoustics, a strange signal came in Morse code - "dash-dash-dash-dot" - translated into normal language - OE. Its meaning remained unclear.

The L-2 commander decided that there was another German boat nearby. And she mistakenly struck her own. However, after the war, it turned out that in the summer of 1918 there was only one German submarine in the area. There were no other Allied boats here, no depth mines, which the "German" could run into and explode. And the strange signal "OE" was not used as a cipher or call signs by any of the warring parties.

Credible unexplained cases collisions with unusual objects in the seas-oceans number in the thousands.

However, this story can be attributed to war time: who will now figure out what really happened there. However, according to the International Union of Submariners, over a hundred years, from 1904 to 2004, not in hostilities, about 230 submarines were lost all over the world. Otherwise, every year an average of 2.3 submarines are lost on the seas-oceans. Perhaps there are actually more losses. Not all countries seek to declassify information about the death of their ships.

VERBATIM

Former head of the information (reconnaissance) center of the Northern Fleet, captain 1st rank, retired Anatoly SMOLOVSKY:

The General Staff of the Navy knows about 15 thousand reports of sounds of unknown nature, recorded by Soviet and Russian sailors. This information concerns the routes of our nuclear submarine cruisers, which means it is directly related to the security of our country. Therefore, in the near future, this information will remain secret.

INSTRUCTIONS

on the organization in the Navy of observations of anomalous physical phenomena and their impact on environment, living organisms and technical means

Introduction

Abnormal physical phenomena or objects (not identified with known phenomena or objects) are observed in our country and abroad both by casual observers and professional specialists: astronomers, crews of aircraft, ships and observation services for various purposes. Known anomalous phenomena can be roughly divided into two groups:

Local phenomena in the form of formations of various geometric shapes with relatively sharp boundaries;

Extended phenomena observed simultaneously on large territory having sufficiently large angular dimensions. The emergence and development of such phenomena are characterized by a change in geometric shapes, movement along different trajectories, maneuverability, light effects, the presence of electromagnetic fields, possibly some other types of radiation affecting the environment, living organisms, electrical, radio engineering and other devices.

According to the available observation results, the following are found characteristic signs abnormal phenomena:

Shape (sphere, cylinder, rectangle, discs with one or two convex sides, discs with a dome, the presence of external parts, windows, hatches, division into parts followed by the flight of each part separately and other features);

Glow (bright light on a relatively dark background, clearly visible steady or flashing light, pulsing, simultaneous large number of children, sequential multicolor, rainbow colors and other light features);

Odor (unusual);

Sound (characteristic sound and noise features);

Movement characteristics (very high speeds and unusual flight paths, hovering, descent, sudden maneuvers, hesitation, rotation, transition from air to water).

In the overwhelming majority of cases, the appearance of unusual phenomena and their development is explained by known natural phenomena or associated with technical experiments. However, in a number of reliable cases, the observed phenomena have not yet received an acceptable explanation. The available information on anomalous phenomena in general suggests that this problem deserves serious research and is directly related to the tasks of further study, development and practical use of the Earth's atmosphere and outer space.

I. General Provisions

1. These Guidelines determine the procedure for organizing observation, collection, generalization, analysis and presentation of reliable information about anomalous physical phenomena and their impact on the environment, living organisms and technical systems that can be observed visually or with the help of technical means by the personnel of ships, ships, units, military units and institutions of the Navy.

2. Familiarization with these Methodical guidelines of personnel and their preparation for possible visual observations of anomalous phenomena, as well as the registration of their characteristics (features) using the available technical means, are organized by the commanders of units and subunits.

3. In units and subdivisions, persons responsible for collecting information about anomalous phenomena are appointed, whose duties include: - instructing personnel to conduct visual observations and registering the peculiarities of the occurrence and development of observed anomalous phenomena using the available technical means; - interrogation of personnel who participated in the observation of anomalous phenomena and generalization of their messages; - clarification and final editing of information sheets (Appendix No. 1).

4. In the event of occurrence and detection of anomalous phenomena, their characteristics (features) and the impact on personnel and the operation of technical means must be recorded. Where possible, the available technical means should be used to observe and record anomalous phenomena.

II. Recommendations for observing anomalous phenomena and recording their characteristics and features

5. It is not possible to predict in advance the occurrence of anomalous phenomena (objects). In order to obtain the most complete information during their emergence and development, it is advisable to use all available technical means (devices), in particular:

Radar stations;

Kinoteodolite and other photo registration systems;

Liaison radio stations;

Sound recording devices;

Dosimetric control devices;

Compasses;

Binoculars, telescopes, theodolites and other optical instruments.

6. In the event of the emergence and development of abnormal physical phenomena, it is necessary to pay special attention to the stable functioning of operating weapons, technical means (devices) of observation, the presence of radio interference, the termination of radio communication, powerful vibrations of the arrows of compasses and other electromagnetic devices, the stop of internal combustion engines, the disruption of the operation of electrical power networks, violation of the course of electronic and mechanical clocks and other types of failures or unstable functioning of technical systems, as well as on the features of the impact of anomalous phenomena on the environment, living organisms and the state of people.

7. In all cases, when possible, the occurrence and development of anomalous phenomena must be registered with the help of cinema or photographic and other recording equipment. In this case, it is important to take several (series) well-focused images from one fixed point, fix the time, conditions (illumination, etc.) of photographing and exposure, it is advisable to photograph through color filters or on a spectrozonal photographic emulsion, as well as stereo photography with two cameras, with a base of several tens of meters.

8. When using technical means to observe anomalous phenomena, it is necessary to fix the mode of their operation, the nature of the observed signals, illumination, sound signals, etc.

At the same time, the results of instrumental observations must be supplemented with visual observation data. At the same time, record: time, azimuth, elevation, angular and linear dimensions, range, altitude, speed, acceleration, maneuverability and other features of the observed phenomena.

9. Observations of anomalous phenomena on board ships and in units of the Navy must be accompanied by hydrometeorological, aerological and geophysical observations, as a result of which the following must be recorded:

Atmospheric phenomena accompanying the appearance of anomalous phenomena of precipitation, fog, smoke, thunderstorm, contrails, halo, aurora borealis, etc.);

Visibility range;

Number, shape and height of clouds;

The value of the magnetic field of the Earth in the atmosphere and the intensity of its change in the presence of magnetic disturbances and storms;

The presence of an open Sun (Moon).

10. When observing from a moving object (ship, aircraft, etc.), it is necessary to register its course and speed and their change (nature of maneuvering) during the observation period of the anomalous phenomenon, as well as the nature of changes in the observed phenomenon caused by maneuvering.

12. Observers can additionally enter into the information sheet any other features of anomalous phenomena in cases of their observation, as well as information about technical experiments (operation of powerful emitting systems, firing, missile launches, etc.), which, by their nature, time and place, can be the reason for the observation of these phenomena.

13. Persons appointed on ships, in units and subdivisions responsible for collecting information about anomalous phenomena, clarify the information contained in the information sheet. and also enter, in them, information obtained as a result of an additional survey of personnel who observed an anomalous phenomenon, and data from viewing records in the working logs of technical equipment that worked during the period of observing anomalous phenomena, about the marked signals and deviations in the modes of operation of these means, and See also posts from other sources. In the latter case, the source of the information is indicated.

14. The revised and edited information sheets with the established classification of secrecy are sent in 3 copies according to their subordination to the headquarters of the formations (formations), and then sent to the hydrometeorological centers of the fleets (flotillas) within five days. Ships and vessels of the Navy on the voyage report on the facts of observation of anomalous physical phenomena by means of communication; information sheets are submitted upon arrival at the base at the same time. Naval units of central subordination send information sheets to military unit No. 6xxxx (Leningrad) within five days.
