Today, with a worldwide enthusiasm and active interest in what is commonly called contemporary art, it must be remembered that classical, realistic, figurative art has a huge army of fans all over the planet, and in Russia, perhaps in the first place. In our country, fortunately, the traditions of classical art education in drawing, painting and sculpture are alive. One can argue and discuss the quality and methods of education, but the fact that in Russia this area of education is maintained at a decent level is our great advantage, which must be preserved and developed. Because love and interest in realistic art does not go anywhere - and this is not only a tribute to the great traditions and masters of the past. You should not perceive classical art education as some kind of rigid framework that limits creative freedom and the possibility of self-expression - on the contrary, it is a powerful base for the most daring artistic experiments of authors who work in line with trends far from the classics.
On March 11, 2018, a university-wide Open Doors Day was held in the Main Building of the Orthodox St. Tikhon Humanitarian University. About 200 schoolchildren and their parents got acquainted with the conditions for entering the university and the rules of study in it, as well as learned about the educational areas of bachelor's and master's programs and professional retraining and advanced training programs.
The solemn part was held in the Cathedral Chamber. Archpriest Lev Semyonov, head of the PSTGU Spiritual and Educational Center, delivered a welcoming speech to the guests. He spoke about the history of this building, sacred to the Church and unique in Russian history, of the historic Moscow Diocesan House with the Cathedral Chamber.

“St. Tikhon University is the largest Orthodox University not only in Russia, but also in the world. Its nine faculties prepare students for state standards and issue state diplomas, at the same time all students have the opportunity to receive training in theological disciplines. The university also provides an opportunity to study in a church environment, creating favorable conditions for the formation of a personality,” said Father Lev.
The presentation, which tells about the history and modern life of the University, was presented by the head of the department of pre-university training Ekaterina Viktorovna Egorova. According to her, today PSTGU has accredited only 52 educational programs, of which 25 are undergraduate programs, 15 are master's programs, 8 are postgraduate programs, as well as 4 specialist programs and a program of secondary specialized education.
“PSTU graduates work in many dioceses of Russia. Over the years, since the establishment of the university, 7,500 people have graduated from its walls - historians, sociologists, teachers, philologists, singers, icon painters, restorers and representatives of other specialties. At the same time, more than 1,000 graduates took the holy orders,” added Ekaterina Viktorovna Egorova.
The responsible secretary of the PSTGU admission committee, Svetlana Askoldovna Atroshchenko, in turn, informed the applicants about the admission and the list of documents required for admission, about the entrance examinations and the procedure for enrolling students.
The solemn part ended with the traditional performance of the choir of students of the faculty of church singing. During the open day, an excursion “History of the Moscow Diocesan House” was also organized with a visit to the exposition “Museum of Memory of the New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia” and a mini-lecture by the Dean of the Theological Faculty of PSTGU Archpriest Pavel Khondzinsky entitled “Theology as a necessary component of humanitarian education”.

Almost every more or less well-known university holds an open day several times a year. Open Day is an event aimed at high school students and their parents. It is carried out in order to familiarize potential applicants with the structure of the university, with the features educational process and all that sort of thing. As a rule, everything looks something like this:

On October 28 and 29, one of the most important events for schoolchildren who dream of entering Sechenov University took place - an open day. These days, applicants can get information about any faculty of the university and clarify the rules for admission.
There were so many people wishing to attend the event that it was held in the Congress Center of the University in two halls at once - deans spoke in one, and a broadcast was organized for the second. The moderator was the dean of the faculty of pre-university education Marina Kozar, which presented a presentation of the university with a new vision for higher medical education.
IN modern world the demand for a young specialist is influenced by his professional competitiveness, the compliance of the level of his training with the requirements of the professional environment in which he must work. The principles of medicine of the future are based on personalized, translational and maximally technological approaches. On this basis, the educational model of Sechenov University is built. The event began with a demonstration of a film about the history of the founding and traditions of Sechenov University prepared by the Department for Strategic Communications and Information Policy. Then the deans talked about the features and requirements of their faculties and answered questions.
In particular, the dean of the Faculty of Medicine Marina Kinkulkina noted a number of features of training in the specialty "Medicine". In the first two years, students study theory and fundamental disciplines, and from the third to the sixth year they move on to practical classes. Marina Kinkulkina also noted that the teaching staff of the faculty includes 33 academicians and 31 corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
