The 1st stage of the regional chemical Olympiad for elementary school students was held in February 2019 and 193 students from regional center, from other cities in the south of the region and from rural areas. Compared to last year, the number of participants increased by 9 people (+4.7%).

The tasks of the first stage, as in previous years, consisted of a test part (9 questions of basic and advanced difficulty), the answers to which were estimated at a maximum of 30 points, and 4 tasks with a detailed answer, allowing you to get up to 70 more points. The content of the tasks corresponded initial stage teaching chemistry. It required from the participants knowledge of the initial chemical concepts, the basics of chemical nomenclature, knowledge of the basic chemical properties 4 classes of inorganic compounds and possession standard methods chemical calculations: finding the molar masses of substances, the amount of substance, the number of atoms and molecules, calculations according to reaction equations, using the concept of mass and volume fraction.

The diagram shows the distribution of participants in the Olympiad according to the success of the results (the sum of the points scored). 29 students scored 50 or more points, which accounted for 15% of the total number of participants. At the same time, 52 students (27%) received less than 10 points. All this indicates the lack of sufficient training for many participants.

The second diagram shows the success of completing individual tasks of the Olympiad by three groups of participants: the entire stream, 50% the best participants and 15% - those who scored more than half of the points. It can be seen that for all groups, the most difficult task was No. 3, dedicated to the process of separating the mixture using chemical and physical processes. For weaker groups, problem 1 was also difficult, requiring the derivation of a formula for a substance based on the number of structural units. The participants were most successful in test task, although here GPA the total flow of participants was 13.8 points (46%).

The greatest success in the correspondence round of the Olympiad was achieved by schoolchildren of gymnasium No. 21 in Tyumen (chemistry teacher Zmanovskaya G.I.), FGKOU "Tyumen Presidential Cadet School" (chemistry teacher Saranchina N.V.), MAOU secondary school No. 16 in Tobolsk (chemistry teacher Grinko S.G.), MAOU "Yarkovskaya secondary school" (chemistry teacher Sharametova L.G.), MAOU "secondary school No. 1" in Zavodoukovsk (chemistry teacher Zolotavina E.A.).

II stage

Schoolchildren who scored more than 70 points in the correspondence stage, 16 people, were invited to the II stage. Unfortunately, only 11 of them were able to actually take part in the on-site stage. The stage was held on March 29 in secondary school No. 63 in Tyumen.

Tasks of the II stage in form and content were close to the tasks of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren. The participants were asked to solve 5 tasks with a detailed answer, meaningfully corresponding to the main topics of the 8th grade chemistry course: the structure of the atom and periodic system DI. Mendeleev, amount of substance, calculations according to chemical equations and composition of solutions, volumes of gases, main classes of inorganic compounds. All tasks were estimated at 10 points, so that the maximum participants could score at this stage was 50 points.

Unfortunately, the preparation of the participants did not allow them to score even half of the possible number of points. Problem No. 3 turned out to be the most difficult for them, perhaps because it was large in terms of the volume of text and the number of calculations to solve it, although the calculations themselves did not go beyond the typical tasks of the school course (composition of the solution, preparation of a solution of a given concentration). The use of the Avogadro constant (task No. 1), the determination of the possibility of ion exchange reactions (task No. 5) also caused difficulty.

Nevertheless, the Olympiad revealed its winner. The best result of the II stage was shown by a student of gymnasium No. 21 in Tyumen, Viktor Nikolaev (chemistry teacher Zmanovskaya G.I.). Similar results were shown by Yakushkina Anastasia (also gymnasium No. 21) and Gavinovich Alexei (Borovskaya secondary school, teacher of chemistry Gavinovich Olga Alekseevna). In the conditional third place is Tyumentseva Svetlana (MAOU "Yarkovskaya secondary school", teacher of chemistry Sharametova L.G.)

We congratulate all the participants of the "Junior" Olympiad with the first experience of participating in the Chemistry Olympiad and wish them and their mentors new and better results in the next year's Olympiads!

As in previous years, the regional stage of the All-Russian Chemistry Olympiad for schoolchildren was held in classrooms and laboratories of the Faculty of Chemistry of Tyumen State University. Faculty teachers, under the guidance of Professor N.A. Khritokhin, together with representatives of the Tyumen Medical Academy and Novosibirsk University, made up the jury of the Olympiad. And in the role of participants were 28 schoolchildren who scored the maximum number of points in the previous, municipal stage.

The main test was, of course, the theoretical tour. Participants in each parallel were offered five fairly complex tasks in various areas of chemical science. There were also complex compounds and Bordeaux mixture, and young chemists with old coins and fragments of the dissertation of the famous Russian chemist E.E. Wagner, and complex mathematical equations and multi-pass schemes of transformations...
No one managed to fully cope with many tasks, which is clearly seen from the following diagrams:

In the experimental round, not too difficult tasks for the recognition of substances and mixtures were proposed. The tasks are traditional and the results were high. The 10th-graders coped with their task especially easily.
Thus, the experimental round has significantly improved (and perhaps embellished) the overall results of the Olympiad.
However, few managed to overcome the 50% barrier.

So the results are:

9th grade. The four best participants of the 9th grade, who showed fairly close results:

Third place was not awarded because the participant did not score 50% of the points. The results of other participants were significantly lower, especially in the theoretical round.
10th grade. The 50% barrier here was also overcome by only two. And the top four results look like this:

Here the situation is the same, only two winners. Weak results in the theoretical round did not give other participants the opportunity to claim a prize.
11th grade. There were two prizes in this parallel:

Unfortunately, here too, the third participant did not manage to overcome the 50% barrier, so only the first and second places were awarded.

On February 16, 2010, the solemn closing ceremony of the Olympiad took place in the Great Hall of the Tyumen Regional Duma. Participants who took third place, but did not become prize-winners, received diplomas "for genuine interest in knowledge, work and perseverance in the study of sciences." The winners also received silver and gold medals, cash prizes and wishes for a successful performance at the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren.

The result of the Regional Olympiad in Chemistry was the fact that the city of Tobolsk became the forge of the best young chemists of the Tyumen region, and specifically the gymnasium named after. N.D. Litzman. High school chemistry teacher Zmanovskaya Galiya Ilgamovna prepared four winners for this Olympiad alone.
Students of Tyumen teachers repeatedly take part in the Olympiad and take good places T.Yu. Mogilnaya(gymnasium of Tyumen State University) and N.T. Belkova(Secondary School No. 21), teacher of the Ishim General Education Lyceum S.A. Pankova.
